Lessons available for all levels

As stated on the Policy Sheet, RCM/CC exams are a great way to establish clear goals. A great deal of effort is required when going through the exam system : some rewards are a great feeling of accomplishment, developing time management skills & High School credit for Grade Level 7 & 8 . Additional lessons may be required and exams may be scheduled during school hours. Within the Halton Board of Education, students may be excused from school one hour per week for piano study. 

  Elementary Piano 

At the Elementary level students explore the piano and it's sounds. Hand co-ordination is developed as is the ability to read music. As it can take time to foster reading skills,  playing from memory is often what students enjoy the most at this level.

  Intermediate Piano 

At the intermediate level, students gain more fluency as well as exploring more of their instrument.  Music reading is developed as are the sounds they are able to pull out of the piano. As well as understanding the language of music, physical skills are now developing in preparation for more advanced play.

  Advanced Piano   

Once students make it into the advanced levels, they are ready to soar and explore the entire instrument. Students will discover for the first time some of the best piano composers of all time. The most beautiful music, primarily written for advanced players is now at their finger tips.

  Theory

As with any language, some people can speak it but not read or write it.  Although not all students take to writing their own music , ALL students are encourage to develop , at their pace, the ability to read the music they play. A level of understanding fundamental music theory relating to what they are playing , can aid in learning time,  stylistic performing and memorizing pieces.
